Julio Jose Austria

Born August 11, 1979 in Manila, Philippines, Austria obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Painting from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines in 2000.

 

He is a Full Grant Winner of the Asian Artist Fellowship in Vermont Studio Center, U.S.A. in 2008.

 

“A flaneur at heart, Austria allows a muted palette to dominate his frames, somewhat giving the impression of being so immersed in the city regularly. In contrast is the little fragments of heavy saturation – perhaps describing how he sways between his retreat from the city and the development of places outside it.” Exhibition Notes, This Way Out, October 15 2008.
